Our Wonderful Helpers

While Abiquiu is a relatively small village, the community is growing steadily. It's situated on Highway 84, a major two-lane road that goes up to Colorado. A substantial number of the calls we attend to involves traffic accidents.

The Abiquiu Area Emergency Services Project, Inc. is a non-profit group which was founded several years ago by Gene Rogers, who also acted as our EMS Coordinator. Its purpose is to assist our Fire Department to cope with the increasing demands due to an expanding population and denser traffic. Currently, the Board of Directors consists of:

The building of an additional fire station, larger and better equipped than the two existing ones, is the most immediate goal of the AAESP. Intense fundraising efforts have resulted in enough funds to allow the construction to begin in early Fall.
